We know abortion can be difficult, overwhelming and personal. You deserve to feel safe, comfortable and respected. If you are pregnant and considering abortion, we’re here to help you make an informed decision.
Are you really pregnant?
Before undergoing a medical or surgical abortion, it’s important to be certain you are pregnant. Our pregnancy tests are lab-quality tests, as opposed to home tests, which are not always accurate. Since up to 1 in 4 pregnancies will end in a natural miscarriage, it is important for you to determine and confirm that the fetus is in the uterus and has a heartbeat. An ultrasound is the most accurate way to determine gestation and viability of a pregnancy. Free and confidential ultrasounds are available at all of our locations.
Have you been tested for sexually transmitted infections?
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), if a woman has an untreated STI at the time of her abortion, it can increase her likelihood of PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease). If left untreated, PID can cause lifelong medical complications. STIs should be treated before any pregnancy decision is made. Our medical professionals can provide you with free, limited STI testing and treatment.
Have you considered all of the possible physical risks associated with abortion?
An abortion is an irreversible medical procedure. There are different abortion procedures depending on how far along you are in this pregnancy (our ultrasound can determine that). Each procedure has possible medical risks and side affects. Our trained client advocate can explain the different types of abortion procedures, provide you with medically-accurate and factual resources and give you an opportunity to ask questions in a safe and confidential environment.
Mosaic PHC believes women should feel educated, prepared and assured in their pregnancy decision. Our nurses and client advocates are trained to discuss all options and support you as a woman.
